Ryan discovered his passion for counseling during the four years he served as a small group leader at his church. There he witnessed firsthand how God’s Word and the truths of the gospel brought healing, growth, and clarity for those he served. Now, as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate, Ryan’s mission is to help his clients discover the abundant hope and provision that Christ offers for the challenges of daily life. To do this, Ryan prayerfully combines research-supported counseling methods with the imperishable wisdom of God’s Word. His approach includes cognitive-behavioral techniques, focusing on the relationship of one’s thoughts, feelings, and actions. He also incorporates narrative therapy methods, examining the sacred life story one is co-authoring with God. Ryan has a particular passion for helping couples find Christ-honoring unity in their marriages with the help of emotionally focused techniques. Ryan’s other areas of experience and interest include family issues, anxiety, depression, anger, guilt and shame, forgiveness, grief, spiritual formation, preparation for marriage, and others.

Ryan is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board for Certified Counselors. He holds a Master of Arts degree in clinical mental health counseling from Liberty University, where he graduated with high distinction honors. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Campbell University. Ryan is a North Carolina native, husband to a gifted Spanish teacher, and father to two young children. In previous careers, he has worked as a real estate broker, banker, and professional musician. He enjoys playing saxophone, reading, writing, painting, and gardening.
