Emily Hartung, PhD, LCMHC

Counselor

Emily holds a a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Regent University and a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. This continued education has led to her ongoing growth and excellence as a counselor. Her focus on burnout and secondary traumatic stress for those in the helping professions has led her to a passion for working with others in those roles. 

Emily has a certificate in trauma studies from Regent University and is a member of the Green Cross Academy of Traumatology as well as EMDRIA.  She is a certified Compassion Fatigue Therapist and Educator and a Field Traumatologist. Emily is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC).

Emily works with adolescents and adults. She enjoys working with couples and individuals of all ages. She enjoys utilizing EMDR and believes firmly in the importance of a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship. To this end, she operates primarily from a person-centered theoretical framework. She is currently accepting new virtual clients and has found that teletherapy with EMDR works well for many individuals.

Emily is EMDR Certified and infuses trauma informed care into her work. Emily is passionate about helping others find solutions and healing and provides unconditional positive regard for each of her clients. This is ultimately sharing with her clients how God views them.

Emily has also completed Gottman Level 1 Training.

Her areas of experience include Oppositional Defiant Disorder, PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Grief and Loss, Reactive Attachment Disorder, Blended families, School struggles, Divorce, Adoption, Abuse, Trauma, Parenting and Attachment struggles and Foster care. Emily is C-PTSD focus.
