As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate, Alyssa creates a warm and compassionate environment for helping others untangle their story.
Alyssa completed a degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she graduated with highest distinction and continued her post-graduate studies at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary where she completed a master’s degree in Marriage, Family, and Individual Therapy.
She approaches therapy in a holistic way – addressing the body, mind, and spirit. She offers a faith-based perspective for those that desire it, but also honors and respects those of other faith perspectives. Alyssa often incorporates mindfulness and somatic interventions into sessions as well as trauma-informed yoga to complement traditional talk therapy.
Areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, self-harm, trauma, and couples. Alyssa works with teens and adults.
Alyssa uses methods found in dialectical behavioral therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, somatic experiencing, emotionally focused therapy, and narrative therapy to join clients in their healing journey.
