As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate, Alyssa creates a warm and compassionate environment for helping others come back home to themselves and connect with others again.
She approaches therapy in a holistic way – addressing the body, mind, and spirit. She incorporates spirituality for those that desire it, but also honors and respects those of differing or no faith perspectives. Alyssa often incorporates mindfulness and somatic interventions into sessions such as trauma-informed yoga to complement traditional talk therapy.
Alyssa completed a degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she graduated with highest distinction. She continued her post-graduate studies at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary where she completed a master’s degree in Marriage, Family, and Individual Therapy.
Areas of expertise include anxiety, trauma, dissociation, and couples therapy. Alyssa works with teens 14+ and adults.
Alyssa uses methods found in somatic experiencing (SE), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), polyvagal theory, and emotionally focused therapy (EFT) for couples.
