There is no such thing as a quick fix for the soul. When Jesus heals us, it is an empowerment to grow and persevere, because life in this world is hard and to be transformed by the renewal of our minds takes grit and grace.
Ryan trained as a Christian counselor at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and received departmental honors for his work. He worked for two years as a staff therapist with a multi-state Christian counseling practice based in Connecticut before moving to the Durham area with his wife who is pursuing her doctorate at Duke University.
Ryan’s experience as a lifelong learner in multiple fields, including teaching, tutoring, writing, counseling, carpentry and fine furniture crafting, give him a facility for partnering with his clients as they move through difficult, challenging, and painful times in their lives.
As a Christian Counselor, Ryan is interested in living out God’s call to serve others with mercy, grace, and truth, and this manifests itself in each counseling relationship differently because each client’s goals and challenges require adaptation and perseverance.
Ryan has worked with individuals, couples, and families struggling with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, relational problems, spiritual concerns and learning disabilities. Ryan has a heart for helping men work through life transitions and crises. He also has experience and coursework in the field of special needs education at the middle and high school levels, and has been involved with helping families with children with learning differences advocate, adapt and move forward.
