Dedrick is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate and has been working with children and families in Wake County Public Schools since 2004. He earned his Master’s Degree in Social Work from East Carolina University in 1998, where he was part of the North Carolina Child Welfare Education Collaborative. Dedrick has post graduate experience with Human Services and the School System which focused on helping children and families with an array of issues, not limited to grief and loss, trauma, suicidal ideation, special education issues, ADHD, discipline and parenting. He also has experience with psycho-social assessments, crisis assessment and management.

While working with Dedrick, clients appreciate that they are in charge of their goals and progress and are regarded as experts on themselves. He works to create a safe and calming environment through the use of compassion, validation, non-judgment, insight and connection. During therapy, clients will examine values, explore connections between emotions, thoughts and behaviors, learn skills to regulate emotions and tolerate distressing times, and how to communicate effectively with others.

Dedrick believes therapeutic outcomes are strongly rooted in the relationship between client and therapist, making therapy a collaborative journey. He takes a person-centered approach while pulling from evidenced-based treatment models including, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person Centered Therapy, Brief Solution Based Therapy and CRM (Resiliency Building Skills) in-order to treat a wide variety of psychological issues in children adolescents, and adults.

When Dedrick is not working, he enjoys spending time working out and golfing. Dedrick has a simple philosophy of giving grace and mercy as Jesus would and meeting people where they are. Dedrick believes that as people and community we need to get to a place of loving ourselves and our neighbor.
