When you see how much time you have left you tend to VALUE what happens over time.

Counsel for Your Child or Teen:

Children of all ages have many experiences and emotions which sometimes can be too much for their growing lives. A trained professional counselor is a great way to find support and guidance in helping your child make sense of their feelings and learn to cope in a healthy way. At LifeCare, we have therapists who specifically work with children regularly and have the training and background provide good, effective strategies to prepare the child, parent and family as a whole for success.

Children experience a variety of changes from the moment they are born through early-adulthood. Sometimes these events can be traumatic, sad or simply difficult to process. Children need help identifying their emotions, regulating them well and communicating their feelings and needs. LifeCare’s therapists provide a warm, safe place of acceptance and purposeful steps towards healthier living.

When is it Time to Seek Help from a Counselor?

Typically, there are many signs which will lead a parent or guardian to believe help is needed. Waiting too long can be harmful, so it is best to connect with someone earlier-on and be more proactive versus reactive to any negative changes. These signs may include:

  • Relationship struggles
  • Isolation
  • Change in attitude (for instance, aggression)
  • Complains of anxiety or sadness
  • Difficulty sleeping or resting regularly
  • Withdrawal from hobbies or activities
  • Grades dropping
  • Alcohol or drug usage
  • Lying
  • Self-harm
  • Obsession over cleanliness
  • Thoughts or plans of suicide
  • Loss of weight or change in diet

Your Role as the Parent/Guardian:

At LifeCare, we desire to partner with you in helping your child succeed in addition to the whole family. The therapeutic process requires sacrifice and investment, but the reward is great. We hope to give you the tools you need in addition to resources and encouragement to walk alongside your child(s) through life’s tough seasons and celebrate with you through the good memories.
