Vanessa Kent, PhD, LMFT, LPCS, NCC, Clinical Director. Joining LifeCare in 2010, she practices as a NC Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor. She received her doctorate degree from Regent University where she enjoyed teaching counselors-in-training. As an AAMFT Approved Clinical Supervisor, Vanessa offers both individual and group supervision to LPCA and LMFTA counselors (contact for supervision availability).

Vanessa works with adults in individual, marital and family therapy. Vanessa has a passion to support women and strengthen their identities personally and professionally in balancing roles as daughter, wife, or mother. A major focus of her work is helping women who have emotional wounds discover their worth and find beauty for ashes.

She specializes in:

  • Life challenges such as anxiety, depression, conflicted relationships, losses, and trauma;
  • Life transitions such as pre-marital, divorce recovery, adoption and parenting/blended families;
  • Women’s issues including relationships, transitions, sexual abuse, and partner betrayal.

Vanessa believes in the power of integrating theology and psychological to address the whole person when preferred by clients.  Believing that we are created for attachment to God and each other, she strives to help her clients grow and heal in the context of a safe, empathic relationship to address the mental, emotional and spiritual needs of each person.

She has been married for over 25 years and has three children—her youngest joining their family through adoption.
