Katie is a Licensed Professional Counseling Intern. She is currently pursuing her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University and has received her Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Studies, along with minors in Business, Christian Education, and Humanities, from Greensboro College in North Carolina.
Katie views counseling as an opportunity to provide a secure, nonjudgmental, and loving environment to clients who desire to journey toward healing and growth. Therapeutic alliance along with the client’s ambition are crucial to the counseling process. Therefore, Katie desires to create a counseling atmosphere in which the client feels free to set goals, share freely, and own the steps in his or her journey.
She tends to lean towards cognitive behavioral therapy in her approach and believes an integrative focus is important in order to encompass the client’s total health— physical, emotional, social, and spiritual— in the scope of counseling. Katie desires to connect with clients and help them realize their strengths as well as discover ways to embrace opportunities for growth.
Katie enjoys working with children, adolescents, and adults in all life stages. Her areas of interest include depression, anxiety, grief/loss, major life changes, and identity.
